Use an electric mixer to work the softened butter and the sugar together in a mixing bowl. In another bowl, dissolve the cocoa in a little hot water, leave to cool. Add the cocoa to the butter-sugar mixture. Mix in the flour in two or three steps, beating well each time, then add the beaten egg. Form long lumps of the obtained dough, about 12-inch long. Make a pretzel out of each lump. Place the pretzels on a baking sheet and bake for 10 minutes. Allow to cool on a wire tray. Prepare the icing: break the plain chocolate into pieces, melt in a double boiler, add the confectioners╒ sugar and the butter, mix well. Dip the pretzels, one at a time, into the icing. Leave to dry and drain on a wire tray.
